“First Day at College”
Emma is from Mexico. She is a new student at a big university in the United States. Today is her first day of class. She feels a little nervous but very excited.
She walks to the classroom and says, “Hello!” to her teacher. The teacher smiles and says, “Welcome, Emma!” Emma sits next to a friendly girl named Sarah.
Sarah helps Emma find the correct book. They talk about their favorite subjects. Emma likes English and art. Sarah likes math and history.
After class, they go to the cafeteria. They drink coffee and eat sandwiches together. Emma feels happy because she has a new friend.
At the end of the day, Emma calls her mother and says, “Mom, my first day was great!”

“A Group Project at the University”
David is an international student from Brazil. He studies computer science at a university in California. This week, his class has a group project. The project is about creating a small mobile app.
David works with three classmates: Lisa, Tom, and Anna. At first, it’s difficult because everyone has different ideas. David wants to make a study app, Lisa wants a food app, and Tom prefers a game.
After talking, they decide to create an app that helps students find quiet places to study on campus. Everyone likes the idea! David designs the app, Lisa writes the report, and Tom and Anna prepare the presentation.
They work hard for three days. On Friday, they present their project to the class. The professor says, “Excellent teamwork!” David feels proud because they did a great job together.
